Detailed descriptions of services.

Manual Therapy and Ultrasound

Involving acupressure as well as soft-tissue massage, manual therapy relaxes and strengthens muscles. Ultrasound is a modality which improves circulation and relaxes muscles, thereby decreasing muscle spasms and pain.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback uses measuring devices to help you become aware of your body's functioning. By tracking when your bladder and urethral muscles contract, and to what extent they contract, you can regain control over these muscles. Biofeedback can be used with pelvic muscle exercises and electrical stimulation to decrease stress and urge incontinence.

Timed Voiding or Bladder Training

Timed voiding (urinating) and bladder training are techniques that use biofeedback. Biofeedback and muscle conditioning—known as bladder training—can alter the bladder's schedule for storing and emptying urine. These techniques are effective for urge and overflow incontinence.

Behavior Modification

After being incontinent for a few years, many of us automatically go to the bathroom every chance we get. This results in the bladder shrinking in size so you have a lower capacity. Vanita's Rehab teaches you simple behavioral techniques that effectively increase your bladder capacity.

Electrical Stimulation

Just like exercise, brief doses of electrical stimulation can strengthen muscles in the lower pelvis. Electrical stimulation can be used to reduce both stress incontinence and urge incontinence. Vanita's Rehab uses safe and painless electrical stimulation to treat patients.

Nutrition

Certain food groups aggravate the bladder, causing it to spasm. These include diuretics, coffee, carbonated beverages, and alcohol. Vanita's Rehab assesses your nutritional health and guides you to make simple changes that relieve your incontinence.

Therapeutic

Exercises

Kegel exercises to strengthen or retrain pelvic floor muscles and sphincter muscles can reduce or cure stress leakage. In addition, Vanita's Rehab teaches abdominal exercises so that only the neck of your bladder remains in your pelvis.

Relaxation Techniques

Deep breathing and other relaxation techniques assist you in controlling your urges. Vanita's Rehab incorporates these techniques to treat your incontinence, specifically, as well as enhance your general well-being.
